LSocial commitment

salda
Elena Salda,
Deputy Chairman

In general, a company's social commitment is conveyed by its actions and attention - which often takes the form of support (financial or otherwise) - concerning cultural, artistic, scientific, sporting or aid initiatives.

This commitment, however, becomes even more significant if it takes the form of responsible behaviour which meets the expectations of the various corporate stakeholders: employees, the local community and area, the environment, customers, suppliers and other concerned parties.

Corporate Responsibility is therefore a corporate “style”. There is, however, an international standard designed to certify aspects of business management related to human rights and labour rights, the prevention of child labour, and health and safety guarantees in the workplace.

This standard, the SA8000, provides for a specific course of action which CMS S.p.A. has undertaken - with the involvement of the company's union representatives and a specific internal organisation – in order to obtain certification before 2010 is out. Management and employees, together with suppliers and customers, will all be involved in the "chain of responsibility” to ensure virtuous management of the social commitment.
